MoviePass #ThrowbackThursday

I watched MoviePass, MovieCrash and remembered that I still got the card, as a memorabilia of the bygone era. So I dug up and took a photo of it for posterity.

I basically lived in movie theaters with this card. Good times.

My interest in the company didn’t extend beyond maximizing the usage out of my card. But I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the company was founded by two black entrepreneurs.

It never became Netflix for Theaters, as we all know, but the dream lives on.

Classical Musicians on Maestro

Ever since I married a classical musician, I have an access to unfiltered reviews of how of classical music and musicians are portrayed in the films and tv shows. Therefore I was eager to hear my wife’s take on Maestro (directed and starred by Bradley Cooper) since its announcement. (Tár was also another fun film to watch & hear my wife’s take on it)

Our conversations on this movie is private, but thanks to YouTube creators, we now can get thorough reviews of the movie by the classical musicians.

“It just does show how difficult it is to actually conduct well.”

Lastly, I was impressed with the actual footage of Leonard Bernstein conducting the London Symphony Orchestra in Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony. I would spend years to realize this scene if I was in Mr. Cooper’s shoes as well.

Color Grading on iPad Pro with DaVinci Resolve

With the latest iPad Pro (2024) release, color grading on it with DaVinci Resolve is easier than ever. (Never mind that the price of capable iPad Pro is in the MacBook Pro price range.)

M4 on iPad Pro before Mac? Wild!

I’ve used my iPad Pro (5th generation) as a reference monitor when I’m working on social media videos, but I don’t see myself running DaVinci Resolve on it anytime soon. Especially when I have a very capable MacBook Pro (M1 but still going strong!).

Nevertheless, the video below shows you that there’s more capabilities than you realized on iPad Pro today and it’s well worth your time to check it out.

What I'm Watching | May 2024

The ladies of Hacks are back and I’m so happy that the reviews have been glowing like this trailer.

Speaking of reviews, the reviews & the word-of-mouth for X-Men ‘97 have pushed me to check out the latest incarnation, even though I’ve missed out the original back in the days.

Slow Horses is another series that’s getting praises from my circles of social media.

Everyone should check out Apple TV+ regularly for incredible shows that people seemed to miss out, beyond Ted Lasso.
