It seems like yesterday that Unreal Engine 5 was released but, with the latest 5.3, the pace of updates is dizzying. I’ve spent the summer learning Unreal Engine 5 and yet I feel like I just scratched its (CG) surface.

Epic showcased the latest updates to Unreal Engine 5.2 at GDC and they were all impressive.

I’m especially impressed with the real-time facial capture with an iPhone demo for MetaHuman animation. This will empower a lot of independent creators, including yours truly.
