Younghoe Koo virtual visit with Parson’s Elementary #AAPIHeritageMonth #TimelineTuesday

I had a lot of fun working with the team at Octagon again and editing this video for Georgia Power to celebrate #AAPIHeritageMonth.

Younghoe Koo

virtual visit with Parson’s Elementary.

The videos were edited on the latest Premiere Pro 2021 (Version 15.2.0) with new subtitle track. It helped a lot laying and editing the English AND Korean subtitles required for the final delivery.

You can see my work for the full and the :15 trailer version of the timelines below.

The whole project took about 5 days from the start to the final delivery. The clients loved my first cuts that only a few things changed for the final cuts.

This project was a great proving ground for new and improved Premiere Pro, and getting my hands dirty again with editing on Premiere Pro after assisting on big projects with Avid.

Speech to Text & All-New Captions in Premiere Pro (BETA!)

Wow, this could’ve saved me hundreds of hours in the post production of BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky.

Speech to Text in Premiere Pro will enable users to automatically create a transcript from their video, then generate automatic captions on the Timeline. Pow...

Having a dedicated caption/subtitle track-separate from video and audio tracks, is great additional feature.

This will push many documentary and reality tv show post production to Premiere Pro.

The Editing Tools Behind the Films at Sundance

The most interesting stat in this graph is the total dominance of DaVinci Resolve in the color grading, but none in editing despite BlackMagic Design’s emphasis on that particular feature in recent years.

I’m also surprised to see Unity coming in after After Effects for Animation / VR / VFX.

Overwatch League Player Profile for Intel Gaming

I finally realized my goal of making an eSports content with this Overwatch League player profile for Intel Gaming.

I delivered this profile video, plus one :30 and two :15 trailers that’ll appear on Overwatch League broadcast and social media sites. This project is edited on Adobe Premiere Pro and color graded on DaVinci Resolve 15.

Tales of Two Timelines #TimelineTuesday

By fortuitous circumstances, I happen to edit two different projects on two different editing programs, on two different operating systems over the month of July. Although many editors-including yours truly, likely to claim that our skill sets are not tied to a particular program or a platform, but the harsh truth is that the post production is heavily technical, and dependent on technical expertise even if only to edit faster.

An opportunity/experience like this lends only to a freelance editor like myself, I reckon, and offers fresh perspectives on post production workflows.
